{January 14, 2011}   The Tale of the Hashish Eater

The Arabian Nights (known as ‘The Thousand and One Nights’ throughout the Arab-speaking world) is a collection of stories that were gathered together during the medieval period. The most famous tales it contains are ‘Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp’ and ‘Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves’ but these are unrepresentative of the collection as most are of an adult nature. In this example, ‘The Tale of the Hashish Eater’, the main theme is the use of an illicit drug, hashish.
