{February 8, 2011}   Description of a Civil War Battle by Major. H. J. Williams

This letter was written in 1863 by Confederate States Army Major. H. J. Williams, commander of the Winder’s Brigade, of the Fifth Virginia Infantry of the Army of Northern Virginia. He reported to his superior officers how his men were able to defeat an enemy force in the American Civil War despite being heavily outnumbered.
